S&S Truck Parts is a 70-year-old company which sells class 6, 7, and 8 truck parts through a network of strategic distributors. This position is responsible for the design, development, unit testing, deployment, and production support of warehouse management systems (WMS) and transportation management systems (TMS) including application feature/function, interfaces with other systems, handheld and vehicle-mount systems, and reports. As a senior member of the IT organization, this position is also responsible for training and mentoring other developers and power users, supporting enterprise architecture activities, contributing to the development of best-practice materials, and helping to improve software development processes, tools, and techniques. Interaction with business leaders and end users is required, especially in the areas of requirements gathering, project estimations, solution design, solution delivery, and production support.
Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support warehouse, transportation, maintenance, and label printing systems to meet defined business needs
- Configure, deploy, and support paper and label printing systems across the operations department
- Design, configure, test, deploy, and support handheld and vehicle mount scanning and data entry solutions
- Lead requirements gathering, design, and project planning activities
- Work with users at all levels to analyze business requests and translate into solutions
- Provide production support for all warehouse and transportation systems, interfaces, printing solutions, and related database systems, including root-cause analysis, defect resolution, and documentation through support tickets
- Administer warehouse and transportation systems including user accounts and access levels, report schedules, production deployments, replication tools, batch interfaces, and database systems
- Keep all warehouse and transportation systems highly available, including after-hours support to resolve production issues
- Manage the capacity and performance of all warehouse and transportation systems
- Manage maintenance and enhancement requests with software vendors

Job Skills and Qualifications/Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar field or equivalent work experience
- 5 years of experience architecting, developing, and supporting warehouse and transportation systems in a mid-size or larger company
- 5 years of experience developing and supporting label printing solutions
- 5 years of experience developing and supporting handheld and vehicle mount scanning and data entry solutions
- 3 years of experience integrating WMS systems with ERP systems and supporting extended business processes in the areas of sales order management, work order management, purchase order management, inventory transfers, and returned merchandise authorizations (RMAs)
- 3 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server, programming SQL statements, and creating reports
- Proficient with ERP, WMS, and TMS data models strongly preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and Visio
